Learning how to blog was one of the best decisions that I made. It allows me to interact with many different people, be creative and document my life.
I am an introvert by nature and this has allowed me to “come out of my shell.”
Blogging can be a great way to earn money or start an online business; and many people have proven it.
There are so many reasons why you should start a blog!
For me, I wanted to share my experience and to try to make extra money. I also wanted to start a blog to have a creative outlet, interact with other people and document my journey. If you are really passionate about something and want to share your passion with others, blogging is definitely for you!
Here are some blog ideas:
- Family Life
- Healthy Living
- Faith or Religion
- Ways to save money
As you can see, you can blog about ANYTHING!!
So when I first learned how to start a blog, I had a full time job. And…I still do! Believe me, I am working my way toward staying home to do this. Just like with everything in life – it takes TIME.
Right now, I wake up early and try to blog a little bit before work. I mainly check my social media accounts and my website to respond to any messages I have. I also setup my pins for the day using Tailwind.
Everyone works differently though, and you might be better working in the afternoons, or in the evening!

How to start a blog today
I am going to share with you how easy it is was for me to start a WordPress blog on Siteground. Starting a blog with Siteground is really cheap and only costs a few dollars a month.
Because of my great relationship with Siteground, I have been able to provide my readers with an even lower rate that you can’t find anywhere else. WAIT – WHAT!!! Yes you read that right!
I chose Siteground because of their uptime, support and the quality and price – nothing can beat them! Seriously! They are the BEST out there.
Pick your plan
Siteground has three plans to choose from: StartUp, GrowBig, and GoGeek. The plan I recommend to use would be the Grow Big Plan.
If you use my special link, you will save 60% off the regular price! That is a lot of money saved right there!! This is a really good value, so make sure you take advantage of it.
**If you hover over the plans you can see what the features are for each one.**
I use the GrowBig plan. It comes with SuperCacher which makes your site 4 TIMES FASTER!!! It also comes with more space and resources. This is the best bang for your buck.
If you are new to blogging and just want to get your site up and running, the StartUp plan is only $3.95/month. This plan is perfect if you are trying to keep your expenses down. You can always upgrade later if you choose to.
Choose your domain name
Picking the name of your domain (AKA your blog or website) is important, so put some thought into your blog name. Your domain name is what people will remember you by when they are on Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest.
When someone thinks of your site name, it should represent your brand and it will set your brand apart from the others.
When I picked my blog name, I wanted the name to relate to myself (Unique) and helping others (Inspiring) – that’s when Unique and Inspiring was born. 🙂
It’s also easy to remember and has a good ring to it!
If you are having trouble deciding what to name your blog, here’s a list of things to remember:
- If you feel comfortable using your own name, this can really help you create a brand around YOU! It’s great to own your own name online!
- When selecting your own name, you have free range to do anything with your website.
- When selecting a phrase for your blog, website, shop, etc., you need to select a title that will align with your vision!
- If you want to build a brand but don’t want to be center stage, pick a phrase to use as a blog name. This is where I felt most comfortable as I’m fairly private 🙂
- You can always change the name of your blog or website down the road and it’s really easy to do!
When you get to this page you can choose your domain name and it will check if it’s available. If you already have one, you may enter it there as well. Siteground will transfer your website for FREE!! Who else would do that for you???
Enter your account and client information. Once you are done with that, you will fill out your payment and purchase information.
Make sure to pick the 12 month period or longer in order to get the 60% discount for the whole year!
Congratulations! You now have your own blog! Super simple, right?!
Let’s connect WordPress and Siteground together!
If you are not tech savvy, there is one more AWESOME feature that I want to tell you about.
The tech team at Siteground will setup your WordPress site for you!! WHAT?? How easy is that??? That is sooo awesome!!
This is a great, free feature Siteground provides you with and it’s really easy to get started. All you need to do is go to “live chat” and ask a Siteground representative to setup your WordPress site. They will have this done in about 15 minutes!!! I did mention this was for free right? YES – FREE!
If you want to setup WordPress yourself, it is easy to do.
Click on My Accounts tab and then cPanel
Then you will go down to the Autoinstallers section and click on WordPress.
On the Install tab, click Install.
After it installs, fill in the information on the next screen.
- Site Name – This is the name of your site that you picked out.
- Site Description – A brief description of what your site is about, or you can leave this blank.
- Admin Username – This is what you will use to log into your WordPress blog.
- Admin Password – This is the password to access your WordPress backend. Choose a strong, but easy-to-remember, password.
- Admin email – Enter your email address
- Choose Theme – I suggest leaving this to none. While you can install your theme right here, there are many free themes to choose from when you get to your WordPress backend.
Click Install and you are all set!!
Once WordPress and Siteground are done connecting everything, you will be taken to your WordPress login page. Yippee!
BAM!! You now have your own blog!
